I think I may be bordering on tan-orexic…
You know…when you think you’re never quite brown enough…but everybody is telling you that you most definitely are?
I’ll admit I am a little obsessed with self tanners.
Ok. I’ll admit I am a lot obsessed with self tanners.
I have a cupboard full of tanning creams, foams, gels, sprays, mitts, aftersun, before sun, during sun and everything in between. I may even consider myself somewhat of an expert in the self tanning field!
So when this little bottle of liquid gold appeared in my hand recently, (thanks Mum) I was intrigued.
What it is:
A skin booster to be mixed with your day and night cream for a radiant, sunkissed glow.
What it is formulated to do:
Three drops to sunkissed skin. This is the first ever self-tanning innovation from the Clarins laboratories. From sunkissed to sun-drenched, simply mix with your regular day or night cream to gradually develop natural-looking, beautifully bronzed skin. Golden Glow Booster’s 99.8 percent natural formula combines natural DHA and erythrulose with aloe vera extract to help preserve skin’s softness while giving your complexion a healthy-looking glow.
What else you need to know:
Golden Glow Booster must be mixed with moisturizer—never use straight from the bottle. You may resemble an Oomp-Loompa. And remember… wash your hands.
It’s actually marketing genius. The bottle is cute and bronzey and because its so small (15mm) it gives the impression it must be a very powerful elixir!
And, you ‘customise’ how many drops you add, so you feel like you are more in control of your level of tan. But in reality, we can just spray more, or foam more if we want a deeper tan the old fashioned way with the regular products.
I used it for the first time in the AM. You know how by the end of a working day you can look a little washed out and tired? Well, this booster quietly kicks in around noon and slowly washes you with some sun kissed glow. Thus, reducing the need to touch up makeup, and you look a whole lot fresher.
Overall, I liked it.
RRP is $35 and available from Sephora, David Jones, Myer and Mecca.
Treat yourself and give it a shot….

DesignEx is an annual trade fair and is the release of all the new interior and exterior products for designers. It is a candy store for sugar addicts.
I flew to Sydney on Friday to attend and this year the range was exceptional. Trade fairs can be a bit hit and miss. It always depends on what projects you have on the go at the time and whether what is on show resonates with your aesthetic. This year it resonated.
I have put together a short video and a snap shot collection of my fave pics from the show.

It was a very inspiring day and I can’t wait to apply some of these new products into my latest client projects.

Before commencing with any renovation, big or small, it is always a good idea to have a plan. A concept of how you want the room to look.
Then it is equally as important to check prior to demolition, that certain features you may wish to introduce, can actually be done.
For example, if you wish to do a 1mtr long recess into the shower wall to be a feature and hold products etc, you need to check that the space inside the wall cavity will allow for that size. If it can’t, then quite possibly the look that you are trying to create could be compromised.
Surprises are best kept for Birthdays and Christmas…not when renovating ….

Our final day in Phuket was spent cruising the Andaman Sea exploring caves and small islands. We booked a chartered speed boat through a tour company and we were picked up from our resort at 8am and driven to the luxurious Phuket Marina. Once there, we chose our fins and snorkels and boarded the boat for our 8 hour day out on the ocean.
Approximately 50 minutes later, we dropped anchor near Chicken Island, and we were able to snorkel the glorious green sea, chasing colourful fish and coral. It was heaven.
Next stop was a little island called Koh Hong, with stunning white beaches and crystal clear water. A number of traditional Thai fishing boats were beached here and it was charming to say the least. Another swim in the warm lagoons, and then it was off to the main island Krabi for lunch.
Rai Le Beach, located on Krabi Island was idyllic, peaceful and amazing. Sated from an authentic Thai lunch, we took time to explore the island and caves and enjoy the sun. It felt very Leonardo Di Caprio from the movie The Beach. White sands, jungle, cliffs and caves, all at our fingertips. I longed to recapture my youth, pack a back pack, drink a beer, and check into a $5 per night bungalow. But alas…reality struck, and my fantasy was short lived. A middle aged mother, cannot simply check out and stay in Thailand, however strong the desire. So, I did the next best thing. Meditated.
Sitting cross legged, facing the ocean, I faced my palms upward and did a mini nature meditation. People took no notice and I was completely in my own zone. It was pure magic.
After 2 more islands we were done with the tour and headed back to the Marina. What a perfect ending to a fabulous holiday. I strongly suggest if you are travelling to Phuket, you either charter a private speed boat, or join a tour, it is well worth the money and a day you won’t forget in a hurry. Bliss. Capital B.
