Paris Eat and Drinks | Part Four |

Paris Eat and Drinks | Part Four |

Bonjour,I was going to condense the final 2 days in Paris into 1 post…but I have written too much..so Paris finale tomorrow..

This were quite possibly the most enjoyable day so far. Simple pleasures are often the best, and the last 24 hours in Paris were pure magic. A late start, with a quick morning run over the Seine whilst everyone slept, I returned home to the apartment loaded with fresh baguettes, juice, and French jam. We ate breakfast, with the tall windows splayed open, the morning sun streaming in, and the sounds of Paris below. I am pinching myself..again.

We then set off on foot for the 5km walk to The Eiffel Tower. (do not tell anyone if the distance if it is over 2 km and you plan to walk..they will whinge..I mentioned ..’a mere 20 minute walk’ …kids are on a need to know basis – enough info to get out the door peacefully)

We walked down Rue de Rivoli, one of the most famous streets of Paris. A little shopping, a little Starbucks, and then it was onto the magnificent Lourve. A few photo opportunities and then we had to high tail it to meet our guide at the tower. This stroll had taken almost 3 hours, and now we were actually racing through the streets of Paris to make our tour time of 2.30pm. Once again, I had pre booked ‘Skip-the-Line Eiffel Tower Tour’ and this allows you to bypass the notoriously long lines — and the lines at the Eiffel Tower can literally take hours. At around $100 p/p, this is a must do. The guide will take you through a special entrance and straight up the Tower. Group size is limited to 20 people per tour so book early for this very popular tour. Amazing views obviously, and on a clear day you can see white capped French roof tops for miles.

Once back down on terra firm, we went to the closest Vélib’ station. This is a self-service bike system available 24 hours a day, all year round. To access the service, buy a 1-day or a 7-day ticket. For around $12p/p per day, it is a quick and convenient way to get from one side of Paris to another. The rules are..there are no rules..you ride on the road in the bus lane, you are treated like a car..and you have to go fast. Just don’t panic when a bus looms up behind you…my only advice. We spent the rest of the day riding along The Seine River. This splits Paris in two, with the Left Bank (‘Rive Gauche’) sitting to the south of the river, and the Right Bank (‘Rive Droite’) to the north.

(Paris tourist must do )…We bought a brass lock, wrote our names on it, and the date and then added ours to the thousands and thousands of lovers locks on the bridge. We threw the keys into the Seine and each made a wish. My hope is that my kids will return to Paris one day, as backpackers, honeymooners or retirees, and find ours…and remember our time together on this day.

We then rode back to the apartment, via Chanel..is there a better way to valet at Chanel than on a bike?..then have your parcel carried out to your and placed ever so carefully into your basket?..I think not!…

We freshened up again..and headed back out for a late dinner. On bikes. Then back to the Eiffel Tower for the 11pm light show. The Paris night sky lights up on the hour very hour for 5 minutes  from 10 pm until 1 am. Stunning. A midnight ride back along the Right Bank, which was still jammed with young romantics, sipping wine and strolling hand in hand…sigh..So much Parisian cliche fare in one day is almost too much to bare..almost..

Bonne Nuit….Sx

Weekend Round Up | What I Wore | Hats

Rain, Hail or shine..I love a good hat. Hats will hide a multitude of sins and is the perfect addition for a week full of Spring Racing Carnival celebrations.

Tuesday | Melbourne Cup Day |

A barbecue at home with friends on a warm Spring Day…So I Wore | Senso Black and Perspex Heels, Zara White Tuxedo Pants, Myer White baby doll top, Thurley Gold Jewel Cuff, Chanel Beaded necklace…The Hat | Sportsgirl White Panama.

Thursday | Ladies Oaks Day |

A Ladies lunch at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club, instead of heading to the track, was a pleasant change. Watching the races on the big screen and not having to line up for a glass of Champs was a definite plus. So I Wore | Witchery Black and Nude Snakeskin Pumps, Zara White pencil skirt, Zara Ivory silk zipper shirt, the perfect race wear cropped pink jacket from Mrs. Press and my Sass & Bide camellia as a wrist piece… The Hat | Original Don Belisario Peach Panama.

Saturday | Emirates Stakes Day |

The last official day of the Spring Racing Carnival, is family day. The day when the kids join in and with family and friends we celebrate the conclusion of the carnival. It was a rainy, cool day, that actually cleared up and was almost perfect. So I Wore | Miss Divolina pointed Black Heels, Zara Black Mid length swing skirt, Witchery Black sheer shirt, Sass & Bide White and Navy Capelet, Sass & Bide Camellia – on the hip -this time. The Hat | Rubik Purple Felt Gangster.

Another exhausting but fabulous Racing week…done and done…til next year.

Weekend Round Up | What I Wore | Jacket Plus

Spring has sprung. The Victorian Spring Racing season is well and truly underway, and the weather is as turbulent as a jet flying over the Pacific. So jackets are the only staple item you simply must invest in at this time of the year.

I have a lot of jackets. Fine jackets I’ve had forever…plus the seasonal pieces that are just that. To be worn for just one season. Then toss ’em.

Work Week, so I wore: Pale Pink Calvin Klein jeans, a cream silk Zara shirt, and the Spring Jacket du jour was a cropped baby pink by Mrs Press. The oversized lapel and the puffy shoulders, helps define the waist and adds structure to the look. Nine West nude pointed shoes complete the muted palette. To work I also wore my Fluer Wood Tuxedo jacket, Black Witchery skinny jeans and a way too old Forever New nude silk and lace blouse.

I usually am a serial pants | jeans wearer. Skirts sneak in randomly, but for the races, I have no option but to brave the bare leg. I was lucky enough to win a day at the Beck Caulfield Guineas carnival and with only a 24 hour race wear preparation time frame, I headed straight to Zara.

So I wore: Crisp white Zara pencil skirt with a side split, Black TopShop singlet, almost neon Yellow Zara fitted jacket, and of course an oversized black sun hat from David Jones. Witchery Black and Snakeskin pumps, Ray Ban Wayfarers, Thurley Gold and Stone Cuff and Ivory Chanel Clutch. It was an awesome day, and we were chuffed to be part of all the glamour of the day. Thank you Beck Property Group.

Coffee Table Books | Decor’s New BFF |

They say you’re never fully dressed without a smile…and the same can be said for the interior decor of your home. It is never fully dressed without accessories. The finishing touches create the discerning elements that makes the space truly yours. A reflection of who lives here and that can often be an insight into the personality of the home owner. The things you keep on your coffee table say a lot about who you are and where you’ve been. For anyone who truly loves interior décor, a coffee table is not just another countertop that holds your miscellaneous items after you walk in the door. Instead, it should be viewed as the centerpiece of your living area.

The interior trend right now is to add books as the accent to the space. Coffee table books are almost as important as the coffee table itself, sometimes even more so. This display is a work of art. A vignette that is carefully scripted, looking almost casual, but is in fact quite tricky to achieve.

The right size balance, the right colours, the right titles. Ahhhh…The pressure.

My design tip is this…Choose a theme, a colour palette and a feature item to add some interest. For me, I like to add some colour and movement…therefore I would select books that are fresh and vibrant. With a similar binding size to keep some consistency, stack them… and then place a candle or a frame on the top of the books to define the grouping. This works well in an informal room, on a glass or timber table and can provoke conversation, depending on the titles.

Or perhaps your favourite stiletto can be the accent on the vignette?

All white on white…and coral…perfect

The Tom Ford book is one of the most sold coffee table books on Amazon. The classic Black and White cover, suits a formal lounge, a masculine master suite or can be softened by adding blooms in a glass vase.

Weekend Round Up…What I Wore…

Monday was a super busy installation day at work…Comfort was paramount as I spent most of the day racing around delivering and styling furniture and accessories for clients. Flat shoes were a must wear…Rubik Black Studded flats, Zara Dark Denim Skinny Jeans, Zara ‘Do It For Yourself’ white tee and last seasons Peach Witchery Knit.

Wednesday was a perfect Spring Day…Bare arms a rare treat. So I wore, Christian Louboutin Nude pumps, Witchery Black Lacquered Jeans, Trenery Cream and Grey Knitted jumper, Samantha Wills Emerald and Brass earrings and Chanel Black and Gold Cuff.

Thursday I wanted to go to Paris… I didn’t, so I chanelled France and wore Parisian Stripes instead. Needless to say it was NOT like going to Paris. So I wore, Witchery Black Suede pumps, Hudson Black Jeans,  new seasons Zara Navy and White Striped knit and Fluer Wood Black Satin lapel jacket, with my black Ray Ban sunglasses /headband.

The weekend was brunch and lunch and walks along the beach in the gorgeous Melbourne Spring sunshine…Perfecto..

Weekend Round Up…What I Wore To Fashion Aid

Saturday night was a rare treat. I was invited to attend Melbourne Fashion Aid at the Crown Casino Palladium Room…and it was awesome. CrayThe Label was launching their new collection of amazing leather wear and the room was buzzing with well known celebrities from all ends of the spectrum. I had a number of comments enquiring about my makeup from my Instagram Pic…so this post is a ‘Makeup’ what I wore.

#1 – After moisturising I applied a thin layer of the M.A.C strobe cream. It’s a highlighter and tends to give your skin a fresh, light base. I love this cream.

#2 – The M.A.C Mineralize Foundation goes next. This is a full coverage makeup that last for hours…without being too heavy. No need to touch up at all when this is on.

#3 – To set the look, I used a new purchase. The M.A.C Lightful whitening pressed powder. This stops the shine and sets like a photo finish. The lightening effect gives a fresh dewy appearance and is my new best friend.

#4 – My faithful bronzer, golden loose powder from Chanel, is the last step. A huge brush and a little powder dusted over the cheekbones and nose…gives a healthy, summery glow.

#5 – M.A.C Iridescent Purple Eyeliner on top and bottom of the eye add some much needed pop. This was applied over a gold loose dust eyeshadow (also from M.A.C) The black Mascara from Sephora…Peach Blusher from Sephora and M.A.C Pink Super Gloss on the lips, were the finishing touches and then I was out the door. What a great night.

Weekend Round Up | What I Wore | Black n White

9 hours after touching down in Melbourne…my amazing China experience was just a memory and it was back to the grind. Reality hits and the wardrobe worn from the past week in warm and sunny China, is replaced with the Melbourne Black and White Spring combos.

Tuesday was a date with my office…So I Wore | Guess  Black Skinny Leg Jeans |Robert Robert Black Patent Point Stilettos (it was nice to swap the Converses for a heel) | Zara Black Tee Shirt | Witchery White Blazer | Chanel Long Length Black and Gold CC Chain|

Wednesday was a meeting in the CBD…So I Wore | Zara Dark Denim Jeans | Kmart Leopard Pumps | Zara Cream Silk Pocket Shirt | Hermes Black Patent Belt | Custom Made Grey and Black Woollen Capelet |

Saturday Night was my friends’ mothers’ 70th birthday celebration…So I Wore | Zara White Gatsby Cropped Pants| Robert Robert Black Patent Points | Witchery Black Sheer Shirt | Custom Made Black and Black Velvet Trim Capelet | Chanel Black and Gold CC Chain |

Such a busy week and I’m actually totally exhausted…In a good way…

Weekend Round Up…What I Wore to Lunch and Run..

Taking time off is important. Very important. The never ending battle for work life balance seems to be a never ending struggle. I love hanging out with my family..and my girlfriends. So when a girls lunch is booked  mid week..its on like donkey kong.

The annual Royal Childrens Hospital lunch at Crown Casino is a great day out. Its a fund raiser and its is a fun..raiser…I try try to go every year and last week was no exception. Fashion parades, entertainers, glamorous people..some not so glamorous people..lots of champs and lots of laughs.

So I wore : Christian Louboutin Suede and Clear kicks..the most comfortable heels for a long day out. Sass & Bide Black wool and Gold Metal pants, Zara Citrus silk shirt for a pop of colour, Forever New Cream Blazer and my chunky gold Chanel Chain.

The fun has be brought into check..Gym time..sweat out the bubbles..

So I Wore:  3/4 2xu black gym pants, Adidas Runners, Intimo orange tank, Cotton On Citrus long sleeve tee. Colour and movement..should help right?

Weekend Round Up…What I Wore…Sequins Included..

I decided that sequins are ok to wear during the day…I know…Big call…Huge…I felt like a little Mid week pick-me-up in the wardrobe department..and decided my inky navy blue sequin jacket was just the ticket. Its from Sportsgirl years ago and I paired it with my Zara Skinny Denims, White Calvin Klein Tee, Witchery gold and chain handbag and a cashmere scarf purchased on a recent trip to India.

The key to getting away with the traditional night time bling…is to dumb it down. Choose  jeans and a t shirt…Keep it simple  and then you’re less likely to look like: a) you are just heading home from a big night out..or: b) you are off to the pokies in the middle of a work week…neither of these scenarios are a girls best friend..trust me on this..

I hardly ever wear skirts..and I almost definitely never wear dresses…but this week I pulled out an old trusty black knit woollen dress with a huge oversized neckline…perfect for winter.. Its from Nicola Finetti and I added my faux fur vest to keep the look current. Knee high black suede boots from Michael Kors completed the ‘I hardly ever wear a dress look’… this ensemble  won’t be making a repeat visit anytime soon…Let’s just say..I like to wear the pants.

Saturday was the day I was waiting for all week…My close girlfriend  was celebrating her birthday and the girls only guests were booked to dine in style at ‘Davids’ in Prahran. An chic Asian Fusion yum cha that had us all begging for more of the clean, fresh delicacies… It was delightful..and so was the wine…the champs…and the Vodka shots.. A birthday celebration calls for a trip to the hairdresser for the blow wave…so the outfit to get primped and preened in should always a comfortable one. Bonds Grey track pants, White Zara tee, Sportsgirl Grey sweater, Gold Persol sunnies and black and gold Havianas. Hair coiffed, makeup on and then it was a quick change for lunch. Witchery Black Lacquered jeans, White Zara Linen Blazer, Thurley silk camisole, Kmart Black suede and Gold kicks..and then layer those accessories like a crazy women.

Chanel Camellia ivory and Gold cocktail ring… a recent purchase, Hermes Ivory and Rose Gold Click Bracelet, “the journey is the reward’ bracelet, Samantha Wills earrings, Michael Kors bone watch and Black Cat Eye Ray Bans…Witchery oversize handbag…and then we were off to enjoy the day…did somebody say prawn toast???…

Weekend Round Up..What I Wore Hats, Fur and Flowers…

This week I decided it was time for a hat…I love a hat..summer through to winter..hats can add quirk to a regular ‘ol outfit..They are great for bad hair days..and equally as great with smooth straight locks or a Hollywood Blow Out and the ‘I just got out of bed’ tousled look….Try it..

Wednesday was a great work day..,initial meeting for  my new fabric range with a textile company..so I wore..Witchery Black Lacqured Skinny Leg Jeans…Witchery Suede Black n Gold Boots, a Black Metallicus Stretch top as a layering piece, Zara Silky Ivory Tee with Gold Zipper..the cashmere scarf from India ..and the pop of winter trend…my deep purple felt hat from Rubi..last years winter bargain for under $30..

Thursday was freezing so I wore..Black Pleather Pants from Cotton On, (the squeaky ones ) another Ivory silk shirt from Zara..the black and white combo is such a favourite of mine..knee high black suede and patent boots from Nine West and the rug me up and keep me toasty warm..Caramel rouched faux fur from Guess..My ode to the Russian Mafia…Add the Louis Vuitton cocktail ring and I’m good to go…

Sunday was lunch at home with good friends, good wine and a fluke of great meal..Put on the fire, pour the Pinot and slice that Chateau Briand..so I wore..Black N White all over..Black Witchery Lacqured jeans..again..The Zara Ivory short Sleeve T..again added my Sass & Bide Camelia neck candy.. and running with the Camelia theme the kicks had to be the  classic Patent Ivory and Black Chanel Pumps..

It was a wonderful week of wintry work and play…I hope you enjoyed yours just as much..
