Baubles For Your Ears…

Baubles For Your Ears…

Spring has certainly sprung.

Social gatherings and events have picked up their pace.

There are 10 more Fridays until Christmas.

Ok. Now Breathe and take a look at these beautiful sparkly creations I recently found at an online store called The Accessory Concierge.

They have the perfect sparkling little baubles to glamourize any outfit.

Think.. Summer Nights, Spring Racing Carnivals, Christmas Parties and Functions.

I picked up a few trinkets for myself, all in the name of research…and now I must patiently wait for them to arrive.

Half the fun is the waiting, then forgetting you bought something, then the parcel arriving, then getting excited again…A double treat!

I don’t see the skinny leg jean going away in a hurry, however, it looks like the flare is making a comeback.

This glamorous nod to the ’70s is going to be our Winter friend and I am happy to embrace the return of the wide legged pant. Cropped jackets, and high heels are the best partners for this look. The long drop of the fabric extends the leg and instantly takes you to super model height.

I remember as a kid, living in London, my mother rocking a pair of dark denim flared Fiorucci jeans, a cropped fox fur jacket, high wedges, over sized sunglasses and a multi coloured head scarf.

Full 70’s Glamour and a great fashion memory.

Think flower crown-wearing hippie chicks are the only ones who can wear flared denim? Think again. The figure-flattering style looks great on women of all shapes and heights (the flare balances out your hips)

So this is good thing!

Flares… are you in or are you out?

Weekend Round Up | What I Wore | Tuxedo Pants

Being the serial pants wearer that I am…I’m always on the look out for a new pair. Black pants are a must..a closet staple, and a variety of lengths and fits are a must.

My latest crush is for the tuxedo pant. Classy, sexy and an easy wear. This past week I have almost worn out my new tuxedo friend, they have been on the constant rotation.

Out for dinner with friends so I wore : Zara Tuxedo pants, Zara black sheer lace top, Guess leopard kicks and Chanel cream clutch.

A cool and cloudy Autumn work day, so I wore : Zara black tuxedo pants, Zara classic navy and white striped knit, Ted Baker orange patent belt, Witchery black suede pumps and Ray Ban classic shades.

Another work day presenting concepts and ideas to clients, so I wore : Zara black tuxedo pants, Zara denim man style shirt, Forever New blue and crystal choker, Hermes black patent belt, Guess leopard stilettos and Persol gold sunnies.

I love the tuxedo pant. Do you?

Weekend Round Up | What I Wore | White Plus

It seems that the last few days of Summer are truly upon us. The days are still sunny and warm, but with a cooler start and a much cooler end. The upcoming Autumn days are the warning that wearing all black and rugging up through Winter is looming.

So, white seems right. For right now.

Off to work I go so I wore : White jeans from Zara, have I mentioned how much I love white jeans? Always a clean crisp look. Dressed up or dressed down. The perfect base. This week I added a new seasons denim shirt, also from Zara. It seems the denim on denim look is not going anywhere, so I caved and got with the trend. This one is light weight, so it can be worn under a fur vest or jacket when it gets chilly and it won’t be tight under another sleeve.

But for now, it’s an easy option for the crisp mornings. And it is a great blue. My aqua Hermes belt is a another little pop of colour, and the leopard print stilettos from Guess, are the perfect trans seasonal kick.

Sunday night catchup with girlfriends at my house to watch the premiere of The Real Housewives of Melbourne.

Finally the successful housewives franchise comes to us! And I loved it. A warm night happily sipping daiquiris and oohing and aahhing at the Housewives.

So I wore : A white silk Zara zip up top. Denim Jeans and my new black Fedora from Witchery. I am a hat girl. All occasions…and not saved just for bad hair days! Hats add a certain swagger, a conversation starter and I’m all for them. This Fedora is the perfect shape. I’m betting it will be my new Winter staple.

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you will start to see a common thread. Jeans.. Zara…Capelets…Practically every day is pretty much a simple combination of the same outfits. And this one is no different. Same styles, just new seasons options.

Design meetings so I wore : Zara Ink new seasons skinny jeans, which I am loving. The colour is a nice change from the faded and the super dark. Inky and moody. Grab some. A black Calvin Klein knit singlet and my I’m a super hero today..White Lace Capelet from Sass & Bide.

I fell in love with the caplet a couple of years ago. And Sass & Bide nail it every time. It is a versatile, chic item of clothing, and can be dressed totally way up, or dumbed totally way down. Exactly how I like to dress.

It has been a busy and exciting week, hence the lateness of this post, but most importantly finding time for a catch up with friends, a date with my kids, and some brilliant new design projects…a good week. I hope you are enjoying yours too….

Weekend Round Up | What I Wore | Jumpsuits

Weekend Round Up | What I Wore | Jumpsuits

Today is the day. A Jumpsuit.

Have I pushed too far into the fashion faux paus vortex…or maybe.. not far enough?? Jump for joy, this is the once piece of clothing you can definitely throw on for those moments when you have no idea what else to wear!

Celebrities have embraced the jumpsuit. All colours, all styles and on all occasions.

I think it’s best to keep the jumpsuit sexy. Glammed up, think metallic belt and super high sexy stilettos for a cocktail party or girls night out. High heels are a must for this latest fashion trend. If you decide to take it down a notch and wear this look during the day, downplay the accessories or hair otherwise it may come off all Elvis Impersonator in Vegas. That is probably not the best look.

I have to admit, when I wore this outfit last week, it was actually super comfy, and with a Jacket to break up the onsie look, I wasn’t nearly as self conscious as I thought I might be. And, I have to tell you it is quite flattering. Especially across the tummy line, plus it helps elongate the leg. Always a plus.

Here are some other looks that hopefully will encourage you to gently go towards the jumpsuit trend.

So are you game?

Weekend Round Up | What I Plan to Wear | Indigo Jeans

Weekend Round Up | What I Plan to Wear | Indigo Jeans

Indigo and fur

So, when it’s 40 plus degrees, the last thing you feel like doing is shopping for Winter clothes…especially Jeans. Am I right?

Well, if you can drag yourself away from the icy aircon or the refreshing pool…head out to the shops and grab the first round of the new seasons fashions for the cooler months ahead. It is worth it. Get ahead of the game and be fashion ready when the days become shorter and the nights turn mild.

I am quietly crushing…rephrase that…loudly crushing on…Indigo coloured skinny jeans.

Not as obviously heavy as the dark blue denim cousin, not as fresh as the lighter faded blue sister…Indigo denim is a touch Rock’ n ‘Roll, an Inky alternative without losing the denim edge. Maybe edgier?

I just purchased these Zara Basic Denim INDIGO Skinnies…They are flattering, even for a fuller figure…(trust me on this…the Xmas holiday bulge refuses to leave) and at $69.95..the price is bang on. One season only if you wish for this price. I have yet to wear them..But I am almost, almost…ready for a cooler day so i can wear those bad boys. Here are some other options for you to choose from…

[ Authentic Skinny Cropped Ankle Jeans, From Just Jeans $79.95]

[ 7 For All Mankind The Rich Sateen from Rag & Bone $325 ]

[ Rag & Bone Skinny Indigo $229 ]

[ Zara Basic Denim Indigo $69.95 ]

Weekend Round Up | What I Wore | Sequins

What does one wear to a girlfriend-get-together-mini-reunion? A long overdue catchup with friends from years gone by?

Sequins. Enough Said.

This past week was joyous with mixed emotions.

The kids headed back to school, and that meant I had no more excuses not to get back to work…Sigh..The Summer holidays were simply brilliant and I wouldn’t trade the memories for anything. Along with the new memories created over the past 6 weeks…there was also the rehash of the old memories from a special group of girls that I met a lifetime ago.

Time marches by and we are are all caught up running through our lives, coupled with small tinges of guilt as we promise ourselves we must make time to see the friends we don’t see as often as we’d like to.

A reunion was necessary. It was time to reconnect with old mates.

A bunch of charasmatic women who were a huge part of my ’90s life. So we did just that. Out of the 5 girls in the gang, 3 were my Bridesmaids and for reasons I can’t actually fathom, we simply just do not see each as much of each other as we should.

Marriages, babies, careers, divorces, and crazy busy lives. Summed up and fast forward. Time to reconnect.

Zara Denim Skinny Jeans, Zara Black Silk Grecian top, Hermes Aqua belt and the now almost vintage,   (4 seasons is almost vintage..right?) Forever New Multi Coloured Sequin Cropped Jacket.

A perfect evening, laughing and reminiscing with girls who knew you before you became the women you’ve become. So to celebrate I wore Sequins.

Weekend Round Up What I Wore | Black & White Summer

Black and White is so classic. Day or night. Fashion, design or decor, Im a sucker for anything black and white. Love a black and white geometric rug teamed with a cool white velvet sofa. Simple. Stylish. Fashionwise, I’m partial to a white pant or is a simple look and when you add black in any form…it pops. A black shirt for a more dressy occasion, a black v neck tee for more casual look. Or an all white combo teamed with a glossy black stiletto heel. Sexy. Timeless.

Dinner with my significant other and kids at our favourite French restaurant, so I wore : White Zara Skinny Jeans, Black Sheer Cargo shirt from Witchery, Black Hermes patent belt and Leopard Kicks from Kmart. Adding my Decjuba yellow and gold chunky cuff for a bling zing..and in no time, we were dining on Chateaubriand and a light French Pinot. A perfect night to celebrate a belated birthday, in classic Black and White.

Weekend Round Up | What I Wore | Green

Happy NY to everybody…I hope yours was safe and festive. I love this time of year. Relax, recharge, think about the coming year. Setting goals…both realistic and totally off the charts…but that is part of the fun!

New Years Eve is a tricky one..the pressure to have a ‘great time’ often overshadows the is was it is…whether you chose to spend it with a huge group..or a select few…I hope you had a ball.

Either way, I love to add a sparkle to my NYE outfit…every year! Regardless of the venue..a casual BBQ..sparkles, a black tie event..sparkles, and this year was no different.

Option 1- A friends NYE party..So…I Wore: Emerald Green Silk top from Jane Lamerton..on sale from Myer for $49 (bargain!) the perfect summer top. Faded and ripped Mavi Blue Jeans, plus Gold Guess Stilettos. The jeans keep it casual…especially if you want to add sparkle.

Sparkle #1 – Blue / Diamante Crystal choker from Forever New. Current.

Sparkle #2 – Multi coloured cropped sequin jacket, also from Forever New..4 seasons ago..still a fave.

A great night ringing in the New Year, drinking French Champs and grooving to full ’90’s beats.

Option 2 – The silk top is also a perfect casual number, thrown together with Peach Country Road shorts, Gold Witchery Sandals.. it is easy breezy for an impromptu summer BBQ with friends. And I repeat…only $49. Run don’t walk to Myer!

2014 is going to be a ripper year..I feel it…and as 14 is my lucky number…I say, bring it!

I wish you all success, good health and a fabulous year ahead.
