Month: December 2013
With the weather in Melbourne still acting like a crazy relative…Summer is still yet to arrive, so jackets are a must have item at the moment. A good jacket is like a good friend. You like to know it’s there for you when you need it. And this past week, it has been a key player with keeping the chill away whilst the sun tries to shine through.
It is a good idea to have a variety of jackets stashed in your wardrobe. Casual denim, tailored tuxedo, a bomber… or my favourite go to piece at the moment is a capelet. Perfect dressed up or down, it’s sophisticated and on trend and can be worn successfully with a short sleeved tee or singlet if the weather is warmer,..or throw it over a full length sleeve for a night time outing for a more formal style.
Wednesday was a work day…So I Wore black Stilt jeans, a grey Country Road Tee shirt and a glitzy blinged out choker from Zara. The jacket layer was the soft blue Bassike Japanese denim jacket. Mixing the crystals and the denim is a good mix of shine and texture.
Wednesday night was also my significant others work Xmas Party..With a minimal timeframe to get ready after work I freshened up the makeup and hair..But stayed in the base outfit from the day…and added. So I Wore everything from the day minus the bling and the Denim. I dressed up the look by adding my Black Woollen Capelet that I had made in China. It has a black velvet trim and is elegant and chic. I switched the pony tail to the side, and removed the shiny neck jewels for my Sass & Bide Black velvet and gold tassel piece. Minus the Camelia. A great dinner in Brunswick. ‘Tis the season.
Friday was sunny.Yay. I was channelling neon and sunshiny days. So I wore: Denim Zara zip jeans, Nude Nine West pointed pumps and a classic white tee from Zara. So far so good? Bam. Pink. Neon Pink. The burst of much needed colour was from the Zara Fuchsia silk blazer. It is light and easy to wear. Adding the turquoise blue stone necklace kept the Summery vibe alive. Don’t be afraid to mix colours and texture. Keep it interesting.
Saturday was busy Xmas shopping day and a visit to the hair salon for a much needed blow wave. Bad hair is the best excuse to wear a good hat. I love a hat. So I Wore: Faded Mavi skinny jeans, Taupe Betts Boots and because in my head I’m still 15…my new favourite Mickey Mouse tee shirt from Myer. FYI My kids are not a fan. 3 disapproving looks as we headed out the door. Adding a little touch of glam was the Copper Metallic Bomber from Witchery. The bad hair saver was courtesy of DKNY./
Let’s pray for warmer weather and no jackets in next weeks post!
Thank you for enjoying my blog. These are your faves from the week.

Have a Great week..
This video tip is a how to get the tile pattern correct before tiling the walls.
Watch til the end..says it all really!
I. HAVE. HAD. ENOUGH. OF. THIS. WEATHER.
It’s is December for crying out loud and we Melbournites should be getting our Summer base tan on…But instead we are still pulling out jackets and flicking the indoor heating on to take the chill off. It getting old. Bring back the sun. Please?
So I went against the weather and suitable wardrobe combo, and started to add some colour. I needed a sunny pop of colour, (whilst my teeth were chattering) for my own sanity…and lighter colours usually mean lighter fabrics. So I froze..but I felt Summery and fresh and sun-shiny. Worth it.
17 degrees : So I Wore Grab faded elasticised jeans, Witchery Gold Sandals, and the colour pop was my Indian cotton Sari shirt from last years trip to Dehli, in soft pastel pink with white embroidery. Pink.
15 degrees : So I Wore Cue Black and White Swagger pants, YLS grey and black motif long sleeve woollen tee, and my pop of colour was an impulse grab. Prada Canary yellow classic handbag, taken right out of my clients’ hand during our meeting. I told you it was impulse grab. I had opted for classic Melbourne Black and Grey and after my meeting I decided I need that Yellow Prada to add the Summer to my Winter outfit. Yellow.
19 degrees : So I Wore Zara White Zip jeans, Cotton On Khaki Tank underneath my sheer Otto Mode Cobalt Blue chiffon top. A Saturday night date night dinner with the man in a casual local restaurant deemed it necessary for a little hint of colour. Plus the blue went well with the Pinot Noir. Cheers.. Blue
Summer colours for a dull Spring week…In my head it was 30 degrees. Everyday. And at night. BUT. IT. WASN’T. Come on weather…play nice.
A girls’ lunch on the Gold Coast started gathering momentum. It was organised by fellow school mates who live on the Coast and I was damn sure I wasn’t going to miss it. Facebook has been a wonderful tool in allowing a reconnection with people from the past, and these school friends were no exception. So I booked my flight, threw in a child and cousin for good measure and we were off to the sunny Gold Coast for a girls weekend away.
The lunch was booked at Georges at Sanctuary Cove region, which is approx 30 minutes North of Surfers Paradise. I chose to stay at Soul Apartments, right on the beach front in Surfers and it was incredible. On the 38th floor it had amazing views, and the apartment and facilities were bang on.. Anyhoo..what did I wear?
The rain set in on Saturday unfortunately so it was mild but wet. So I wore: Zara White Pencil Skirt, Zara White Silk Tee, Zara Citrus Yellow Blazer, Nine West White and Nude Sandals and Husk Gold and Green Drop Earrings.
There was a slight ’80s vibe for the class of ’85, including questionnaires and a Secret Santa…all in the theme. So when I pulled out a pair of Fluro Leg warmers and Hot Pink Plastic earrings..I could’t have been happier! On it all went and it actually matched what I was wearing..Slightly Awkward?
And I have to make mention of my friend Lisa’s amazing kicks. The Mimco wedge stiletto was a winner on the day. The colours are perfect for Summwr and can be worn with any outfit..Shorts, Denim skirt or a floaty cotton kaftan. Lisa chose a tight fitting uber sexy patterned summer print dress and rocked those shoes! It was such a perfect day and so lovely to see all my old school chums and nobody has changed one bit…
Sunday was slow day at the beach, swimming and my daughter had booked a surfing lesson..lazy and relaxing…then I was off to meet my brother at the Sheraton Mirage for a quick afternoon bevy..He just happened to be on the GC at the same time with his family..so it was great chance to see them. So I Wore : Witchery Linen Peach Shorts, Zara Black Singlet, Roxy Cream Tassel Cardigan, and the Forever New Crystal Choker.
It was a fabulous weekend and kudos to Lisa for organising such a brilliant day. It is hard enough to get a group of 6 girls together for a lunch, let alone 30 +. Well done!
