Weekend Round Up | What I Wore to Work, Ride and Cheer…

Like a juggler at the circus, I have become the master of keeping the balls in the air but every once in awhile, my arms get tired, I get distracted and the balls crash to floor. That is why I love school holidays. No rushing out the door in the mornings, toasted sandwiches for dinner and if I can manage to alternate work and go in every second day…it is bliss.

Tuesday for work I wanted corporate …so I wore : New season Witchery Black Lace Skirt, Zara White Tee, Fleur Wood Black Tux Jacket, Witchery Black Suede and Gold Zipper ankle boots, and the neck candy was a Forever New velvet jewelled choker. I don’t usually do skirts, but is was nice to show some leg for a change..and the trend moving forward is big shiny neck pieces..about time!

Wednesday was the perfect play day of horse riding with kids along the beach at Portsea…So Much Fun…So I wore : Zara Skinny Denim Zip Jeans, Zara White Silk Shirt, and the Rodeo|Hannah Montana (hope this makes me ride better) country element was the neck scarf from Guess, the Peach Panama Hat and most definitely the Wittner Suede and Glitter boots. Let it be said…you can take the girl out of the city…but…

Weekend |AFL Grand Final…Footy fever swept through Melbourne and for 24 hours only, I picked a team to follow and got excited. Out for dinner with girlfriends on Grand Final Eve, my new Thurley Gold and Embellished cuff was the hero piece. Saturday was a BBQ and a footy final and I wore Witchery Black jeans, ‘Yves Saint Laurent’ Grey Knit, with the tailormade Black Wool Capelet. A great mix of work and play this past week…Loved it

Mid Week Inspiration | White Kitchens That Pop

There is something so effortless and appealing about an all white kitchen. The brilliant white cabinets look fresh and clean and suit all decor environments. Whether you choose a gloss or matt finish for your kitchen depends on your own personal taste, but the trend is certainly heading toward a more more refined, low-key application…like the matt finish…and then adding textural features to make the kitchen pop!

I do love to add. As much as the all white kitchen is a perfect look…most clients prefer to stay with the white theme, I prefer to create some drama and add to the all white look. To create some interest and a focal point that anchors the entire design. The black glass splash back above is a prime example. It gives this kitchen a point of difference and looks uber chic.

Another surefire way to add textural detail is by including timber veneer doors to the kitchen design. The contrast between the white cabinets and the dark, almost black espresso timber, is quite organic, yet powerful enough to give this kitchen a stunning look that is timeless.

Wanting to add colour? A blue glass has been used as the back board of the over head cabinets in the kitchen pictured above. .This contrasts against the white cabinets and is literally quite stunning. A colour needs to compliment, not take over, so by including just a hint of this Grecian Blue glass, the kitchen is instantly more exciting to look at.

White, on white, on white. This kitchen is a classic example of a very minimalistic, paired way back design. Its almost a commercial look and can appear quite cool. However, by adding the cement look bricks as a surround, it keeps the texture element the focal point.

Or simply hide it all away and let the kitchen become part of the furniture. This is a good option for apartment living as the kitchen area may be need to be smaller and therefore won’t compete for your attention visually.

My favourite, hands down, nothing else matters, go-to feature material is always…Marble. Slabs of  grey and bronze veined Calcutta, or white and grey Carrara is such a beautiful natural product, and such a stunning way to dress your all white kitchen. Marble is porous, so it does require some diligent maintenance, however it is so worth the effort. It is a timeless, classic material that will always be on trend, and can transform a stark white kitchen into a show stopper.

The project above has all the right features…We added Calcutta marble, Timber Veneer and Coloured glass..With the white cabinets being all under counter. A trifecta of glamour.

So, have I managed to convince you to add some pop to your white kitchen?

Weekend Round Up…What I Wore…

Monday was a super busy installation day at work…Comfort was paramount as I spent most of the day racing around delivering and styling furniture and accessories for clients. Flat shoes were a must wear…Rubik Black Studded flats, Zara Dark Denim Skinny Jeans, Zara ‘Do It For Yourself’ white tee and last seasons Peach Witchery Knit.

Wednesday was a perfect Spring Day…Bare arms a rare treat. So I wore, Christian Louboutin Nude pumps, Witchery Black Lacquered Jeans, Trenery Cream and Grey Knitted jumper, Samantha Wills Emerald and Brass earrings and Chanel Black and Gold Cuff.

Thursday I wanted to go to Paris… I didn’t, so I chanelled France and wore Parisian Stripes instead. Needless to say it was NOT like going to Paris. So I wore, Witchery Black Suede pumps, Hudson Black Jeans,  new seasons Zara Navy and White Striped knit and Fluer Wood Black Satin lapel jacket, with my black Ray Ban sunglasses /headband.

The weekend was brunch and lunch and walks along the beach in the gorgeous Melbourne Spring sunshine…Perfecto..

White Chalk Interiors Design Tip | Sheer Curtains | VIDEO BLOG

I love sheer curtains…in fact all curtains…They can soften a room and add the much needed detail to create some decorator spunk! Whether it’s sumptuous silks, floaty soft muslin or glitzy diamond encrusted linens. all just fab. What is your favourite fabric for curtaining?

The Summer Interiors Trend Prediction…

Summer is fast approaching. The days are getting longer, lighter and warmer. So what is trending in the interiors world as we head full throttle towards Summer? Here are a few of my predictions…

COPPER| Not as obvious as gold…not as overdone as chrome…Copper is quietly creeping in as my big design crush…Copper can be used to add a touch of glamour without being to much of a show off. Wallpaper, taps, or pendant lights are all subtle ways of introducing this metallic hero to any space.

EMERALD | Every season there is a feature colour for our homes. Last year it was citrus yellow, which I still love using… and this year Pantone has decided that we must fall in love with the striking colour emerald. Patchwork tiles in a variety of emerald hues against a brilliant white bathroom is a focal point that will stun your guests. Try a burst of colour by including an emerald green sofa or feature chair…the perfect way to add the colour and personality to a room. Or erhaps a wall of emerald coloured glass in the kitchen as a splash back will help us all break away from the all white kitchen…One trend that is not going anywhere it seems.

ART | An emphasis on art is making a big comeback in the interiors world. Art has always been in our homes, but black and white photographs took the lead over coloured pop art over the past few years. With the trend swinging towards adding more colour and shine to the spaces we live in, what better way to do it than with glossy shiny art work. Punch out some style in the entry with colour on canvas. Hang a perspex framed oil painting in the main living room. Or throw a myriad of different art framed up on the master bedroom wall in lieu of the standard bed head. I dare you.

Which summer trend will you embrace in your home this year?

Weekend Round Up…What I Wore To Fashion Aid

Saturday night was a rare treat. I was invited to attend Melbourne Fashion Aid at the Crown Casino Palladium Room…and it was awesome. CrayThe Label was launching their new collection of amazing leather wear and the room was buzzing with well known celebrities from all ends of the spectrum. I had a number of comments enquiring about my makeup from my Instagram Pic…so this post is a ‘Makeup’ what I wore.

#1 – After moisturising I applied a thin layer of the M.A.C strobe cream. It’s a highlighter and tends to give your skin a fresh, light base. I love this cream.

#2 – The M.A.C Mineralize Foundation goes next. This is a full coverage makeup that last for hours…without being too heavy. No need to touch up at all when this is on.

#3 – To set the look, I used a new purchase. The M.A.C Lightful whitening pressed powder. This stops the shine and sets like a photo finish. The lightening effect gives a fresh dewy appearance and is my new best friend.

#4 – My faithful bronzer, golden loose powder from Chanel, is the last step. A huge brush and a little powder dusted over the cheekbones and nose…gives a healthy, summery glow.

#5 – M.A.C Iridescent Purple Eyeliner on top and bottom of the eye add some much needed pop. This was applied over a gold loose dust eyeshadow (also from M.A.C) The black Mascara from Sephora…Peach Blusher from Sephora and M.A.C Pink Super Gloss on the lips, were the finishing touches and then I was out the door. What a great night.
